Description
Lotionpro™ 165 is a self-emulsifying, acid-stable emulsifier blend which includes glyceryl stearate and polyoxyethylene stearate (PEG-100 stearate). It forms highly stable oil-in-water emulsions with excellent appearance and feel. It is often used with cetearyl alcohol or other fatty alcohols (as thickeners) in formulations. Its has an excellent compatibility with active ingredients and significant amounts of electrolytes.
While some self-emulsifiers (like Emulsifying Wax NF) can thicken a lotion made without butters, fatty acid or alcohol waxes, or water phase thickeners like xanthan gum, Lotionpro™ 165 will not. The job of an emulsifier is to marry oil in water in a stable mixture and this Lotionpro™ 165 does very well. Thickening your formulation to the consistency you want is done through the use of oil and water phase thickeners, as mentioned above. Lotionpro™ 165 can create lotions that are lighter and fluffier than those made with Emulsifying Wax NF, with a less waxy feel, and it is also able to create buttery formulations when combined with fatty alcohols and water-phase thickeners.

Why do we use it in formulations?Glyceryl Stearate (and) PEG-100 Stearate is a very effective and crazy versatile emulsifier. It can be used to create everything from sprayable milks to ultra-thick emulsified body butters, and everything in between!
Unlike emulsifying waxes like Polawax, Emulsifying Wax NF, Olivem 1000, and Ritamulse SCG, Glyceryl Stearate (and) PEG-100 Stearate does not substantially thicken emulsions, even in emulsions with very large oil phases. It is also substantially more stable in very thin emulsions.
Storage: can be stored at room temperature But close the lid of the bottle tightly. and protected from sunlight or heat, the product has a shelf life of at least 2 years. (Current Lot will expire june 2025)
