Description
Sodium coco sulfate (SCS) powder is a natural, solid anionic surfactant derived from coconut oil, used as a cleansing agent in personal care products like shampoos and soaps. It is valued for creating a dense, creamy lather and is often used as a palm oil-free alternative to sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), although it can be irritating to some sensitive skin and its dust requires precautions during handling.
What it is Anionic surfactant: It’s a type of surfactant that works by binding to oils and dirt, allowing them to be washed away with water.
Coconut oil-derived: It’s made from whole coconut oil.
Solid powder form: It’s sold as a powder or sticks and has a neutral to soapy/detergent scent.
High active matter: It contains a high level of active surfactant matter (around \(95\%\) minimum).
What it’s used forÂ
Personal care products: It’s a primary foamer in shampoos, body washes, shave creams, and shampoo bars.
Solid products: It is used in solid cleansers like bath bombs, where it creates bubbles.
Cleaning products: It can also be used in various cleaning applications.
