Description

Castor seed is the seed of Ricinus communis, a fast-growing perennial shrub renowned for producing castor oil, one of the world’s most versatile vegetable oils. They are exceptionally rich in fixed oil, containing approximately 40–60% oil, with ricinoleic acid as the primary fatty acid. While the oil is highly valued in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and industrial applications, the raw seeds naturally contain ricin, a highly toxic protein. Proper processing during oil extraction removes ricin from the oil, making the finished oil safe for its intended cosmetic or pharmaceutical use, personal care products, and industrial applications due to its exceptional moisturizing and conditioning properties.
