Description
Origin
Caprylyl/capryl glucoside is produced by the reaction of glucose from corn with the fatty alcohol capric alcohol, which is obtained from coconut and/or palm oil.
Description:
Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside is a glucose alkyl ether that contains 60% active matter and is ECOCERT Certified, preservative free and free of impurities.
In addition to being an excellent, gentle cleansing surfactant in your skin care products, Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside is also a highly effective solubilizing agent for essential oils and fragrances as well as cationic surfactants. Due to this dual purpose, Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside is an excellent choice for the formulation of foaming aromatherapy products.
Caprylyl/capryl glucoside is a mild cleanser used in cosmetic formulations and can be applied to sensitive skin. It can increase the foaming capacities of skin care and hair care products. It acts as an emulsifier that allows mixing of water and essential oils. It can blend dense oils like carrier oils in your product.
Characteristics:
A clear to light yellow viscous liquid (clearer than most other glucosides), which increases the foaming capacity in skincare and haircare products. It also has the excellent benefit of acting as an emulsifier to allow essential oils and water to mix. Using Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside you can also blend some denser oils, such as carrier oils into your products.
Combines well with other glucosides to make a complete foaming shower gel / shampoo. Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside gives a nice balance of flash foam and denser foam. To increase foam density add coco and decyl glucosides.

Some of the uses of caprylyl for skin:
1. Assists in the production of foaming products
Capryl is a mild surfactant with properties which make it a fantastic ingredient to add a foamy effect to cosmetic commodities. Some of the products that have caprylyl in them are such as shampoos, soaps, body washes and facial cleansers. It’s also very gentle on the skin and has no side-effects.
2. Helps water mix in oil
Various organisations use surfactants to help them in mixing water with oil. It also helps in removing dirt from solutions making the solution clearer. It also supports multiple facial cleansers to remove dirt on the face.
3. It has incredible solubility properties
Caprylyl has highly concentrated surfactant solutions, mainly in the presence of salt and alkalies. It is also a naturally-derived ingredient that can be mixed with other solutions to ensure they stay natural.
4. It helps in making flash foam and denser foam
Caprylyl is a wild ingredient that comes up with flash and dense foam. By noticing the amount of surfactant you need for the solution, one can determine the cogency of the foam. To make the solution thicker, you could use cocoa and decyl glucosides.
