DESCRIPTION

Hydrolyzed silk protein, also called silk hydrolysate, silk peptides, is made by breaking down silk proteins (mainly fibroin and sericin) into smaller, water-soluble peptides and amino acids. In liquid form, it comes as an aqueous solution with preservatives.

• Works especially well to add luster and shine, body and manageability to hair.
• On the skin care it is known for its high moisture binding capacities providing a protective barrier.
• It is an amphoteric protein type and is compatible with cationic, anionic and non-ionic materials.
• Acts as a conditioning agent, film former and moisturiser. Imparts very good moisturising benefits in skin care. Increases the plasticity of the hair helping prevent breakage and split ends.

ORIGIN

Hydrolyzed Silk Protein-Liquid is made by isolating silk thread from the cocoon and cleansing and degumming the fibers. The individual silk fiber is then wound with other silk fibers to create one long thread. The threads are then combed to remove noils which are then used in the production of hydrolyzed silk proteins through controlled hydrolysis. It is a Natural protein obtained from natural silk noils (fibers, fibroin) from the cocoon of the silk worm (bombyx mori). Has excellent moisture binding properties and silky smooth feel. The exceptional purity of silk is shown by the clarity of its film and low ash content. Protein content about 10%. Gluten-free.

PURIFICATION PROCESS

There are various extraction methods of Proteins including Alkaline and enzymatic extraction methods. Alkaline Extraction methods have been adopted recently . The process conditions for alkaline extraction of rice protein are to extract at room temperature with 0.1mol/L NaOH in a solid-liquid ratio of 1:7 for 4 hours. The extracted rice protein has a purity of 90% and an extraction rate of 55%. The process conditions for enzymatic extraction of rice protein are temperature of 50 ℃, pH of 8, E/S of 5%, liquid-solid ratio of 3:1, and enzymatic hydrolysis time of 4 hours. The extraction rate of rice protein is 40%, and the protein purity is 45%. The water retention, oil absorption and foaming properties of rice protein extracted by alkali method are better than those of rice protein extracted by enzyme method, while the solubility, emulsification stability and foam stability of rice protein extracted by enzyme method are better than those of rice protein extracted by alkali method”. This Extraction method gives a clear liquid end product.
