Description
ORIGIN:
Potassium azeloyl diglycinate is a water-soluble derivative of azelaic acid that is commonly used in the skincare industry due to its potential to improve skin texture and reduce hyperpigmentation. Azelaic acid is a naturally occurring dicarboxylic acid that is derived from grains, such as wheat, barley, and rye. It has been used for decades to treat acne, rosacea, and hyperpigmentation. Potassium azeloyl diglycinate was developed as a more stable and water-soluble alternative to azelaic acid that can be incorporated into a wider range of skincare products. It is also non-toxic and non-irritating to the skin.
DESCRIPTION: Potassium Azeloyl Diglycinate is a safer and more effective derivative of Azelaic Acid. In cosmetics, it has good skin lightening properties, anti-acne activity, skin softening and conditioning, sebum regulating properties, improved skin radiance, evenness, cutaneous elasticity, and hydration. PAD inhibits the synthesis of melanin by reducing the production of the enzyme Tyrosinase. Potassium Azeloyl Diglycinate (PAD) acid offers significant skin lightening effects and reduces age spots better than plain azelaic acid. In cosmetic Skin lightening formulations, PAD offers tyrosinase inhibition, depigmentation of melanocytes and anti-inflammatory benefits. With better penetration and in a pre-dissolved, liquid form that is easier to work with, PAD is a potent multifunctional cosmeceutical; Water-soluble, non-irritating, moisturizing with improved elasticity. PAD brightens the skin tone, is safe and stable, and can be used in clear formulations like gels, clear cleansers, toners, and serums. A good stable alternative to Kojic dipalmitate, Arbutin, and Azelaic Acid.
Characteristics:
Potassium azeloyl diglycinate is synthesized by reacting azelaic acid with glycine, a type of amino acid. The reaction produces a diglycinate salt that is then neutralized with potassium hydroxide to form potassium azeloyl diglycinate. The compound can be characterized using various analytical methods, such as nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
Analytical Methods:
NMR is used to analyze the structure of potassium azeloyl diglycinate at the molecular level, while FTIR is used to analyze its functional groups. HPLC is used to separate and quantify the compound in various formulations and skincare products.
Biological Properties:
Potassium azeloyl diglycinate has been shown to have various biological properties that make it a promising ingredient in the skincare industry. Studies have shown that it has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties. It also has the potential to inhibit the production of melanin, the pigment responsible for skin color, which makes it useful for reducing hyperpigmentation.
