Polawax

Description

Polawax is a complete non-ionic emulsifying wax commonly used in cosmetic and personal care formulations to blend oil and water into stable emulsions. It helps create smooth, creamy textures in products such as lotions and creams while improving stability and consistency.

Because it is a self-emulsifying system, Polawax simplifies formulation by allowing formulators to easily combine oil and water phases without needing additional emulsifiers. It produces stable, elegant emulsions with good spreadability and a smooth skin feel.

Appearance: White to off-white pellets, flakes, or pastilles
Recommended Usage Rate: Typically 3 – 10% depending on the thickness desired.
Solubility: Soluble in oil
Stable pH Range: 4 – 8
Heat Sensitivity: Polawax requires heat to melt and activate. It melts at approximately 50–60°C and should be heated properly to ensure stable emulsification.

MIXING METHOD

• 1. Add Polawax to the oil phase of your formulation.
  2. Heat the oil phase and water phase separately to about 70–75°C.
  3. Once both phases reach the same temperature, slowly pour the water phase into the oil phase while mixing.
  4. Continue stirring or blending until a uniform emulsion forms.
  5. Allow the mixture to cool while stirring gently, then add heat-sensitive ingredients during the cool-down phase.

RECOMMENDED STORAGE

Store in a cool, dry place, away from moisture and direct sunlight.
