Description
Octocrylene is an oil-soluble UV filter widely used in sunscreen and cosmetic formulations to protect the skin from the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation. It mainly absorbs UVB rays and short UVA II wavelengths, helping to prevent sunburn and premature skin aging caused by sun exposure.
This ingredient is highly valued in sunscreen systems because of its excellent photostability. It helps stabilize other UV filters that are prone to degradation under sunlight, particularly Avobenzone. By improving the stability of the entire UV filter system, Octocrylene enhances the overall effectiveness and durability of sun protection formulations.
Octocrylene is also known for its water-resistant properties, making it suitable for products designed for outdoor activities, sports sunscreens, and water-resistant formulations.
