Green Tea Liquid Extract is standardized for Polyphenols (17.6%). The active constituents in Green Tea are the polyphenols known as catechins, which are known to be potent antioxidants that help diminish the signs of aging. Their skin-soothing properties help to cool irritated skin, alleviate and prevent damage caused by dryness, and improve the skin’s elasticity and suppleness. Furthermore, catechins even out discoloration, reduce the appearance of cellulite, eliminate dead skin through exfoliation, cleanse the skin by removing dirt, bacteria, and other pollutants on the surface, reduce the appearance of dark circles, and support skin and hair health by protecting against the damaging effects of environmental factors.

Benefits of Green Tea Liquid Extract in Skincare:

Prevents Wrinkles; As green tea is so antioxidant-rich, it prevents oxidative damage to skin’s cells, which otherwise would turn into free radicals – which cause ageing. By keeping your body full of antioxidants, it reduces the likelihood of getting wrinkles so you can stay looking younger for longer.

Reduces Psoriasis: Research has shown that green tea can help to slow down the production of excess skin cells that seems to be the underlying cause of conditions like psoriasis. When applied topically, it can help to soothe the irritation and redness associated with psoriasis.

Protects Skin from Sun Damage: In a controlled study, green tea was shown to provide far superior redness reduction than a placebo. This was from using topical cream infused with green tea. Reduces Acne: As green tea is a strong anti-inflammatory; it can help reduce acne. Studies have also shown that topical green tea can cut sebum production by 50%, reduce acne by 50% – (that’s as much as benzoyl peroxide) and reduce skin’s genetic sensitivity to acne-causing androgen hormones.

History: A study in 10 people revealed that applying a cream containing green tea extract to the skin for 60 days resulted in improved skin elasticity, another study shows it reduced skin damage caused by sun exposure.

General Tips:
– In emulsions: use at 0.1-0.5% and add a water-based thickener (xanthan gum, hydroxyethylcellulose, carbomer) to help increase stability.
– In toners or water-based serums use at 0.1-5%.
