Celery is a grassy vegetable, which is known for its culinary and medicinal benefits. Celery scientific name is “ApiumGraveolens”. The leaves, stalk and even the seeds of Organic celery are considered edible. While the leaves are usually mild in taste, the stalks are slightly acidic, but turn sweet with blanching.

Description: Celery is a marshland plant in the family Apiaceae that has been cultivated as a vegetable since antiquity. Celery has a long fibrous stalk tapering into leaves. Depending on location and cultivar, either its stalks, leaves or hypocotyl are eaten and used in cooking. Celery seed powder is used as a spice.

100% Celery – Our organic Celery powder starts out as USA grown, fresh, whole celery stalks. They are immediately frozen after harvest then dried through a cold freeze-drying process. As the final step, they are ground to a fine powder and packaged.

You can make it from celery stalks, or celery leaves, a combination of both, or using leaves from celery’s sister plant, lovage. Celery powder made from leaves, particularly lovage leaves, will be darker in colour than that made from the stalks, and can have even more of a celery taste and aroma.
