Description
With a life span of up to 2000 years, the Baobab tree is considered “Tree of Life” as it provides food, water and shelter to the indigenous people of Africa. The baobab tree is found in Africa and reaches heights of 30 metres.
Baobab oil is derived from the seeds of the tree and is highly regarded in skincare due to its revitalising, moisturising and restructuring properties as a result of its unique balance of saturated (palmitic) monounsaturated (oleic) and polyunsaturated (linoleic) acids.
The oil obtained from its seeds is rich in vitamins A, D, and E, as well as antioxidants. It has the ability to penetrate deeply into the skin and can help restore the integrity of the skin cell membrane.
Baobab oil is non-irritating and non-drying and can be good for topical application for oily or acne prone skin due to its high percentage of linoleic acid, which can also help in the healing process of sunburn and other skin irritations. It is also good for dry skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.
