HOW TO CALIBRATE
this is the SY-1030 / pH-801/902 style pen pH meter (very common). It has the MODE/CAL and HOLD/TEMP buttons and your buffer powders (4.01, 6.86, 9.18), so here’s the exact way to calibrate THIS type.
Step 1: Prepare the buffer solutions
Each sachet is for 250 ml.
• pH 6.86 → dissolve in 250 ml distilled water
• pH 4.01 → dissolve in 250 ml distilled water
• pH 9.18 → optional (for soap / alkaline products)
Use clean cups. Label them if possible.
⸻
Step 2: Power on & rinse
• Remove the cap
• Rinse probe with distilled water
• Gently shake or blot dry (don’t rub)
⸻
Step 3: Calibrate pH 6.86 (FIRST – very important)
1. Turn the meter ON
2. Put probe into pH 6.86 solution
3. Wait until reading stops moving
4. Press and HOLD “MODE/CAL” for ~5–6 seconds
5. Screen will blink, then lock at 6.86
6. Release the button
✅ First calibration done
⸻
Step 4: Calibrate pH 4.01
1. Rinse probe with distilled water
2. Place probe into pH 4.01 solution
3. Wait for stable reading
4. Press and HOLD “MODE/CAL” again
5. Meter will adjust and lock at 4.01
⸻
Step 5: (Optional) Calibrate pH 9.18
Only needed if you test soap, detergents, alkaline solutions
• Same steps as above using pH 9.18
⸻
Step 6: Finish & store
• Rinse probe
• Add 2–3 drops of the protective/storage solution into the cap
• Close cap tightly
❌ Never store dry
❌ Never store in distilled water
⸻
Important tips (very important for accuracy)
• Always start with 6.86
• Recalibrate:
• Weekly (cosmetics / lab use)
• Monthly (light use)
• If readings jump or won’t stabilize → recalibrate
