Guar Gum (Cosmetic Grade)

Description

Guar Gum is a natural polysaccharide derived from the seeds of the guar plant (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba). In cosmetic formulations, it is valued for its excellent thickening, stabilizing, and conditioning properties. It helps improve product texture, enhances viscosity, and provides a smooth, silky skin feel.

Cosmetic-grade guar gum is commonly used in creams, lotions, gels, shampoos, conditioners, and facial cleansers to prevent separation, improve spreadability, and enhance foam stability in surfactant systems. It also offers mild conditioning benefits, especially in haircare formulations, helping to reduce static and improve manageability.

Guar gum is biodegradable, plant-derived, and suitable for natural and clean-beauty formulations.

Appearance: Off-white to pale yellow fine powder
Solubility: Water-dispersible (hydrates in water)
Usage Rate: 0.1 – 1% (up to 2% for thicker gels)
Function: Thickener, stabilizer, viscosity modifier, conditioning agent
pH Stability: Effective across a wide cosmetic pH range (≈ 4–9)
Suitable for: Skincare, haircare, natural & herbal formulations

Mixing method: should be added into the water (water phase) of formulation. Gradually add water in a small amount, and keep stirring until its dissolves. Its takes about 15mins for complete dissolution.

Compatibility: works well with most ingredients

Melting Temperature: avoid temperature above

Application: conditioner, body wash, bar soap, lotions and creams, wipes, shave creams, gel…etc

Formulating Tip: Guar gum can be pre-dispersed in glycerin or propylene glycol and then immediately added to the water phase with mixing. Once the Guar gum is fully hydrated, the resulting solution can be heated if necessary for the inclusion of other ingredients.

Packaging: Our powders are packed in water proof ziplock pouches to avoid spillage.

Recommended Storage: Our powders should be stored in cool temperatures away from direct sunlight and moisture in an airtight container.

Shelf life: 36months from manufacturing date or testing date.(current Lot will expire 09-2028)
