Description
Oregano essential oil is extracted via steam distillation of the leaves of Origanum vulgare, a herb native to the Mediterranean region. Known for its sharp, herbaceous, warm, and spicy aroma, oregano oil has long been considered one of nature’s most powerful essential oils.
Historically, oregano was prized in Greek and Roman medicine for its ability to fight infections and support digestion. Today, oregano essential oil is widely recognized in natural medicine, aromatherapy, skincare, and wellness formulations for its potent antimicrobial, antifungal, and immune-supporting properties. It is sometimes referred to as a “natural antibiotic” due to its high concentration of carvacrol and thymol, the main active compounds.
