Description
Papain is a powerful proteolytic enzyme derived from the raw fruit latex of the papaya (Carica papaya). In skincare, it functions as a natural exfoliant, breaking down the proteins that bind dead skin cells together, thus revealing a brighter, smoother complexion. It’s widely used in facial masks, cleansers, exfoliating serums, and peel treatments for its gentle yet effective enzymatic action.
BENEFITS OF USING PAPAIN IN COSMETICS:
-
Enzymatically exfoliates dead skin cells without abrasion
-
Promotes a radiant and even skin tone
-
Helps minimize clogged pores, blackheads, and dullness
-
Supports healthy cell turnover and texture refinement
-
Gentler alternative to AHAs and BHAs—ideal for sensitive skin
-
Plant-derived and biodegradable, perfect for natural formulations
-
Can assist with spot reduction and brightening effects
