Polyquaternium – 10

Polyquaternium-10 is a water-soluble, cationic polymer derived from cellulose. It is commonly used in personal care products as a conditioning agent, film former, and anti-static agent. Known for its ability to bind to hair and skin, Polyquaternium-10 improves texture, provides slip, and enhances the feel of rinse-off products like shampoos, conditioners, and body washes.

Formulation Tip:

Disperse Polyquaternium-10 into room-temperature deionized water with vigorous stirring. Allow it to fully hydrate before heating, ideally below 60°C. Use in the aqueous phase and blend with surfactants or other conditioning agents for enhanced performance. Avoid excessive heating to preserve its conditioning effect.

Applications:

Shampoos, conditioners, 2-in-1 products, hair serums, body washes, liquid soaps, facial cleansers, shaving gels, and leave-in hair treatments.

Precautions:

For external use only. Avoid inhalation of dry powder. May cause mild eye irritation in concentrated forms. Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Always patch test in finished formulations.
