Description
Kojic Acid Dipalmitate (KAD) is an ester of Kojic Acid, made by combining kojic acid and palmitic acid and is more stable than Kojic acid.
Its does not only overcomes the instability to light, heat and metallic ion, but also keeps the inhibitory tyrosinase activity and prevents the forming of melanin. Kojic dipalmitate owns stable chemical property. It will not turn yellow for oxidation, metallic ion, illumination and heating.
It works by inhibiting the activity of tyrosinase present in human skin so as to inhibit the melanin formation and produce excellent effects in whitening skin and to reduce the appearance of age-spot.
Kojic acid dipalmitate is capable of suppressing skin pigmentation. Its ability to melanin formation makes its effective in whitening dark skin or areas of dark skin. Its effects have been boosted when used in combination with glucosamine derivatives like N-Acetyl Glucosamine (NAG)
Cosmetics benefits of kojic acid dipalmitate:
1. Skin lightening effects by inhibiting melanin formation.
2. Does not complex with metal ions and will not change colour.
3. Light and heat stable
4. Compatible with most cosmetic ingredients.

Kojic Acid Dipalmitate Formulation Tips: It is difficult to add kojic acid dipalmitate to cosmetics formulation, and it is easy to form a crystal precipitate. In order to solve this problem, it is recommended to add isopropyl palmitate or isopropyl myristate to oil phase containing kojic acid dipalmitate, and heat oil phase to 80°C, and keep it for 5 minutes until kojic acid dipalmitate dissolves completely. And then add oil phase to e aqueous phase, and emulsify for about 10 minutes.
